About Dirona

This past August, DiRōNA restaurants across the U.S., Canada and Mexico participated in DiRōNA Week 2006, raising money for Share Our Strength (SOS), a nonprofit organization that fights childhood hunger. DiRōNA restaurants showcased their unique menus while raising funds for this important cause.

Participants in DiRōNA Week 2006, held August 21-25, offered a special prix fixe menu, donating a percentage of the proceeds to Share Our Strength. In 2005, DiRōNA Week’s charitable efforts drew the attention of local and national media, including dozens of daily newspapers, the CBS Early Show and television stations in Panama City, Kansas City and Honolulu.

Special DiRōNA Week promotional kits were distributed to participants, and included DiRōNA Week logo slicks; a sample DiRōNA Week menu; collateral to display in restaurants and a “donut” press release for member restaurants to personalize for local distribution. Staff actively promoted the event to the national media.
Share Our Strength is a nonprofit organization that fights childhood hunger on a local, national and international level by awarding grants to nonprofit organizations and offering nutrition-education training. SOS has raised more than $188 million to fund more than 1,000 anti-hunger organizations worldwide since it was founded in 1984. For more information please visit www.strength.org.

“Last year, we were proud to see DiRōNA restaurants work together to help the tens of thousands of individuals and families at risk for hunger,” said Chick Marshall, Chairman of DiRōNA and co-owner of DiRōNA restaurant Mr. Stox in Anaheim, CA. “We were excited to partner with Share Our Strength once again to make a difference throughout North America in 2006.”

Testimonials from DiRoNA Week Participants!

"We had ten times the amount of diners as last year and had wonderful feedback from the community about the organization. All of our customers - both those who enjoyed the prix fixe menu and those who also joined us for regular dining - were very interested in our presentation of DiRoNA Week. Our staff did a wonderful job in promoting the event and executing their knowledge to the guests about DiRoNA and what it stands for. Many of our purveyors donated to the cause and therefore became familiar, if they were not already, with DiRoNA. We are proud to be a part of DiRoNA!"
